Designed for students lacking formal coursework or teaching background in early childhood or special education, this 48-semester-hour program offers comprehensive training. The inclusive early childhood special education curriculum enhances general education, requiring all participants to complete co-requisite early childhood education preparation. This foundation equips students with essential knowledge, skills, and principles to implement effective inclusive practices through developmentally appropriate curriculum. Key program components include typical and atypical child development, formal/informal assessment techniques, research-based instructional methods, and stakeholder collaboration. The program employs a field-integrated model, mandating at least 120 clock hours of fieldwork before student teaching. These practical experiences connect to each professional core course and involve observation and project work across diverse early childhood settings, particularly in high-needs districts. Participants engage in parent-professional meetings and one-on-one work with disabled students. A core emphasis lies on developing inclusive practices that ensure young children and families receive complete access to educational and support services.
