The program has two primary objectives: (1) to equip students with a solid grounding in computer science principles and applications, fostering their growth as skilled, ethical practitioners and continuous learners capable of designing and deploying cutting-edge computing solutions for societal benefit, and (2) to cultivate innovative problem-solvers who can assume leadership roles in technology or academia, possessing both profound understanding of computer science fundamentals and versatile knowledge across traditional and emerging computing disciplines. Hofstra's accelerated dual-degree option enables exceptional computer science undergraduates to complete both bachelor's and master's qualifications in about five years. Within the 30-credit graduate curriculum, 12 credits taken during senior year count toward both degrees.
The Artificial Intelligence specialization focuses on training students in AI and machine learning methodologies and systems. Recognized as the forthcoming technological revolution, AI finds diverse applications spanning national security, healthcare, agribusiness, and learning systems. Every course in this concentration incorporates substantial hands-on learning experiences.
