This bachelor's degree program caters to students aiming for careers in community or public health, as well as those desiring a health-focused major as groundwork for entering related fields. The curriculum aims to develop scholar-practitioners with extensive understanding of wellness principles, health promotion strategies, disease prevention methods, and community/public health services. Students will gain skills in evaluating individual and community health requirements, along with designing, executing, and assessing community health initiatives. Alongside the Community Health major, students can opt for a Nutrition Science specialization. See Major Core Electives (below) for details.
The program's interdisciplinary nature provides students with a robust health curriculum taught by field experts, supplemented by courses from Allied Health and Kinesiology, Psychology, Biology, Sociology, and Counseling and Mental Health Professions. Hands-on learning occurs through two 3-credit field placements.
Graduates can pursue roles with government health departments at various levels, private health organizations, and nonprofit health agencies.
