This accelerated program enables students to earn both a bachelor's and master's degree within five years. During the initial four years, participants can complete the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mathematics. Following undergraduate graduation, students receive their BA in Mathematics. By continuing for one additional year, they can obtain a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) in Mathematics Education with STEM Integration. This graduate program qualifies graduates for New York State initial certification to teach secondary mathematics (grades 7-12), incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) teaching strategies into school curricula. The program emphasizes implementing New York State's Common Core Learning Standards for Mathematics in middle and high school classrooms.
To complete this dual-degree option, students must successfully finish at least 149 semester credit hours. The undergraduate portion requires 124 credits, with 12 graduate-level credits counting toward both degrees. The fifth year demands a minimum of 25 additional graduate credits, totaling 37 credits for the MSEd program.
