Eligible undergraduate students can choose to participate in a combined degree program, merging their bachelor's studies in linguistics with a master's program in forensic linguistics. This dual-degree option necessitates completing 148 semester hours total, with a minimum of 112 undergraduate hours and 36 graduate hours. The program typically spans five years, incorporating at least one summer term. Upon acceptance to the graduate component, students may apply four specific graduate courses (LING 202 - Phonetics and Phonology in fall, LING 205 - Semantics and Pragmatics in spring, LING 206 - Sociolinguistics in fall, and LING 221 - Linguistic Field Methods in spring) toward both their bachelor's and master's requirements. These 12 semester hours supplement the mandatory 112 undergraduate hours, resulting in 124 total hours for the BA degree.
