The program has two key objectives: first, to equip students with a solid grounding in both theoretical and applied computer science, fostering their growth as skilled, ethical professionals and continuous learners capable of designing and deploying cutting-edge computing solutions for societal benefit. Second, to cultivate independent thinkers who can assume leadership roles in the tech industry or academia, possessing profound understanding of computer science fundamentals, a wide-ranging view of established and emerging computing disciplines, and specialized knowledge in their selected areas. Hofstra's accelerated computer science program allows exceptional CSC undergraduates to complete both bachelor's and master's degrees in about five years. Within the 30 required graduate credits, 12 credits taken during senior year count toward both the BA and MS degrees.
