The Advanced Certificate in Fine Arts and Music Education (all grade levels) is a 26-semester-hour program that qualifies graduates for initial New York State teaching certification across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Designed for candidates holding a master's degree or higher, the program requires applicants to have completed either an undergraduate or graduate major (or equivalent coursework) in a relevant field - with minimum requirements of 40 semester hours for music and 48 for fine arts. The following sections detail standard program requirements and flexible options. With departmental approval, course substitutions may be allowed based on a student's prior academic background. Prospective students should submit applications through the Graduate Admission Office.
