The Advanced Certificate in Addiction and Substance Abuse enables students to fulfill the educational prerequisites set by New York State's Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) for obtaining the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) credential. This curriculum trains students to provide support to individuals, families, and communities across various environments, specializing in substance misuse and addiction counseling. Upon completion, graduates can apply for the CASAC credential, qualifying them to pursue the clinical experience needed for full certification. Note that this advanced certificate by itself does not grant professional licensure.
