The Hillsborough Community College Corrections Academy equips Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Corrections Cadets with essential training to successfully complete the Florida Department of Law Enforcement State Certification Exam. Cadets develop both physical and mental readiness to serve as competent Correctional Officers.

This rigorous 420-hour program fulfills or surpasses all state-mandated standards, focusing on correctional procedures, defensive strategies, emergency medical response, weapons handling, and physical conditioning. Graduates may use their completed training to earn credits toward a college degree.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for admission to an associate degree program at HCC, applicants must submit documentation that they have the equivalent of one of the following: high school equivalency certificate (GED) Associate or higher degree standard high school diploma High School If you graduated from a high school in the United States, please request that final, official transcripts be sent to HCC in a sealed envelope or electronically directly from your high school by the given application deadline. Transcripts must include your final grades and graduation date. Opened transcripts are considered to be unofficial and will not be accepted. IELTS academic overall band score of 5.5 or higher TOEFL score of 61 (iBT) or higher.
