The MSN Family Nurse Practitioner program at Hawai'i Pacific University (offered both on-campus and online) is a 45-credit Master of Nursing degree that's fully accredited, with a specialized focus on family care across all age groups. This comprehensive lifespan approach makes the FNP certification one of the most sought-after qualifications in nursing. While primarily an in-person program, many courses incorporate online and hybrid learning formats. During the first year, full-time students typically attend two afternoon classes weekly to complete the core MSN requirements, while part-time students spread this over two years. After finishing these 18 core credits, students progress to the FNP specialization courses, which are completed full-time at 9 credits per term. This structure ensures students master primary care theory before beginning clinical rotations. For on-campus students, the FNP coordinator helps arrange practicum locations, though students are expected to participate in this process. Clinical rotations may be completed during summer terms.
