Dedicated to training physician assistants to serve Hawaii's communities and underserved populations, the Hawaii Pacific University Physician Assistant (PA) Program offers an intensive 24-month curriculum leading to a Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree. The hybrid didactic phase blends remote learning with periodic in-person sessions, featuring daily live and self-paced instruction from faculty with diverse clinical and scientific backgrounds. Students travel to HPU's Honolulu campus for 1-2 week immersions to develop hands-on clinical examination skills and demonstrate competency before beginning rotations. The clinical phase involves supervised practice across seven core medical disciplines (emergency, surgical, internal, behavioral, family, women's health, and pediatric medicine) plus an elective specialty. Before graduation, students return for a final campus immersion featuring comprehensive assessments and professional transition preparation. HPU plans to welcome its inaugural PA class in January 2025.
