There is a global demand for English teachers across numerous countries. Earning a TESOL certification equips you to embark on this path and start your professional journey.
Hawaii Pacific University's TESOL Program provides two certification options:
The Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate comprises 15 undergraduate credits, delivering essential training for HPU undergraduates aspiring to teach English internationally. Featuring 160 hours of in-person instruction with teaching practice feedback, HPU's TEFL Certificate surpasses the basic qualifications needed to teach English in most nations.
Students receive the TEFL Certificate after completing at least 15 undergraduate credits in designated courses. Degree holders can complete the program in a minimum of two semesters or extend their studies longer. Undergraduate students typically distribute the coursework over multiple semesters. BA in TESOL graduates cannot pursue the TEFL Certificate afterward, as it shares foundational courses with the degree program, though students may switch between programs during their studies.
