Biology, the science of living organisms, is experiencing its most dynamic period yet. Cutting-edge discoveries by contemporary researchers, empowered by advanced methodologies, are generating an unprecedented wealth of biological knowledge. These discoveries weave together a comprehensive understanding of life, uncovering remarkable relationships between molecular structures, cellular processes, living beings, ecosystems, and evolutionary patterns. Scientists in this field investigate these core elements and their interactions to develop a cohesive framework of life's complexities.
The College of Natural and Computational Sciences provides three specialized tracks within the Biology Bachelor of Science degree program. The Conservation, Ecology and Evolution concentration delivers comprehensive training in natural environments, analytical approaches, and ecological theories, equipping students for professional roles or advanced studies in wildlife conservation, habitat preservation, and environmental stewardship. The General Biology track offers a well-rounded foundation spanning diverse biological disciplines, combining academic rigor with adaptable course selections that allow students to explore personal interests while preparing for careers in fields like molecular research, animal sciences, plant studies, or veterinary medicine. The Human and Health Sciences specialization emphasizes molecular and human biology, with opportunities to delve into advanced health sciences and social disciplines ranging from microbial studies to mental health and healthcare administration. This pathway readies students for medical, dental, or pharmacy programs, as well as graduate research in health sciences, while also establishing a strong basis for careers in biotech, cellular research, and medical innovation. Across all concentrations, HPU's Biology program blends contemporary lab techniques and hands-on fieldwork with conventional academic learning, thoroughly preparing graduates for research positions, teaching careers, healthcare professions, leadership roles, and various other scientific endeavors.
