The Immunology Program aims to offer advanced training culminating in a Ph.D. in Immunology. Overseen by Harvard's Committee on Immunology, this initiative involves more than 135 faculty members with diverse research expertise spanning transplantation, neuro-immunology, autoimmunity, stem cell biology, infectious diseases, human translational immunology, cancer immunology, immunobiology, and mucosal immunity. The Immunology PhD Program trains researchers in investigative and academic medicine, equipping them to advance immunological science while understanding its broader implications. Students receive instruction in fundamental biology, advanced immunological concepts, and exposure to disease-related immunological challenges. This curriculum serves as a benchmark for interdisciplinary education in a field that intersects with traditional medical disciplines like microbiology, genetics, pathology, clinical medicine, and biochemistry.
To qualify for admission, applicants must demonstrate strong enthusiasm and ability for the vigorous pursuit of scientific knowledge. Minimal requirements include a bachelor’s degree and undergraduate preparation in the sciences.
