The Department of Classics motivates students to investigate the full spectrum of Greco-Roman culture, spanning from the Bronze Age to Byzantium, medieval Europe, and Modern Greece, while critically analyzing its diverse interpretations, including contemporary American perspectives. While many of our majors pursue professions outside academia, a Classics education has benefited graduates entering fields like law, medicine, theology, media, commerce, and creative industries.
Undergraduates can integrate Classical studies into their curriculum through various pathways: as a primary Concentration (major), a Joint Concentration (combining Ancient History or another discipline), a Secondary Field (minor), or by earning a Language citation in Latin, Ancient Greek, or Modern Greek.
