Many students discover History and Science for the first time when they come to Harvard, yet those who select this concentration often become some of the most fulfilled and versatile scholars in the College. As the sole program awarding credit for interdisciplinary courses spanning the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, we provide exceptional opportunities like museum internships, Rosenkrantz Discovery Grants for research and international travel, and the chance to contribute to the nation's exclusive undergraduate history of science journal. Our students explore diverse subjects across eras: from Darwin's transformative theories to biotechnology's emergence, climate science to Latin American medical history, quantum physics to digital age studies, and from mental health research to space exploration. The concentration offers three pathways: the Science and Society track blends STEM with historical and social science perspectives; the History of Science track emphasizes historical coursework; while specialized options include Mind/Brain/Behavior, Medicine/Society (both requiring theses), and Technology/Information/Society.
