Graduates from Green River College's BAS - Aeronautical Science program who aspire to become professional pilots might qualify for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certificate with just 1,000 total flight hours, as long as they have finished their Commercial and Instrument Flight training and certification at an approved Part 141 flight school under contract. This restricted ATP certificate enables pilots to work as flight crew members until they accumulate the required 1,500 hours, at which point the restriction is lifted. Note that VA Funding does not apply to any Upper Division Flight Training Electives. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Aeronautical Science also caters to students aiming for non-pilot roles in aviation, such as Air Traffic Control, Aviation Management, Airline Dispatch, or other flight-free aviation careers. Upon completion, graduates will possess expertise in their chosen aviation specialty and gain broad competencies in aviation from business and management viewpoints applicable to various sectors.
