The Kinesiology program equips students for careers in exercise/fitness, sports coaching, strength/conditioning, and physical education. Those aiming for exercise/fitness or strength/conditioning careers pursue a Kinesiology major with a Fitness Specialist focus. This path suits individuals seeking roles like exercise physiologists, strength coaches, fitness program coordinators, or group fitness instructors. Graduates qualify to take certification exams from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The program also provides foundation for advanced studies in fields like athletic training or exercise physiology. Students pursuing sports coaching or physical education careers complete a Kinesiology major with a Health and Physical Education Pedagogy focus. Those intending to teach in K-12 public schools must additionally complete Teacher Certification requirements and the Teacher Performance Assessment.
