The Associate in Science in Environmental Science for Transfer is a multidisciplinary program blending social sciences, policy studies, and human behavior with physical and biological sciences. This degree integrates earth sciences and economics with an environmental focus. Students explore the interplay between natural systems and human activities, including how economic practices affect ecological health. The curriculum highlights environmental policies and regulations concerning pollution while strengthening quantitative skills for environmental analysis and decision-making. Foundational courses in biology, chemistry, geography, geology, and physics elucidate Earth's systems, while social science classes investigate humanity's environmental footprint, resource management, and regulatory frameworks. Mathematical training in calculus and statistics equips students to assess environmental effects. Graduates will be ready to transfer into bachelor's programs in Environmental Science or Environmental Studies.
Upon completing this program, students will be able to:
Apply scientific methodologies to environmental challenges while cultivating an integrated understanding of Earth's systems.
Evaluate humanity's environmental interactions through resource consumption and industrial activities.
Assess international environmental policies designed to address ecological market failures.
Illustrate how biological cycles, ecosystem functions, and population dynamics influence resource sustainability.
Examine geographic and physical processes shaping environmental patterns, including energy flows, mineral distribution, and climatic systems.
