The Theater Arts Department offers students the chance to explore both the artistic and technical aspects of theater. Those pursuing the Associate in Arts in Theater Arts transfer degree gain foundational knowledge for continuing education or careers in theater history, literature, performance, design/technology, and management. Through coursework and hands-on production experience, Theater Arts Majors engage with theatrical history, literature, and various disciplines including scenic, costume, lighting, sound, and makeup design, as well as acting, directing, and management. Production assignments help develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The program fosters academic and artistic growth to prepare students for success in advanced studies or professional work, equipping them to pursue a bachelor's degree in Theater Arts at a CSU.

Grasp theater's historical significance and its connection to modern society and culture.

Assess their own work and others' creations with a critical eye.
Show expertise in a chosen theater specialization (performance, technical, directing, or management) by identifying, analyzing, and solving discipline-specific challenges.
Recognize both individual and team contributions needed for successful live theater productions.
