This program offers students a comprehensive foundation in liberal arts and sciences, along with specialized coursework in a chosen Area of Emphasis. It serves as an excellent option for those aiming to transfer to California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) systems, as it helps fulfill general education requirements while providing transferable credits aligned with bachelor's degree programs. Since transfer requirements differ across institutions, students should consult with a GWC Counselor when selecting emphasis area courses. To earn this degree, students must complete at least 18 units in their chosen emphasis area and follow a general education plan tailored to their academic and career objectives. Options include Golden West College's local General Education pattern, the CSU-GE Breadth pattern, or the IGETC pattern.
Upon finishing the program, graduates will be able to:
Apply core computer science and software development principles to create computing solutions.
Assess different technology systems and platforms.
Employ technology tools to develop artistic, computing, or database projects.
