Epidemiology examines how diseases, disabilities, and mortality patterns emerge across human populations, investigating their causes and contributing factors. It also explores population characteristics, disease progression, and the biological foundations of health. Georgia State's Master of Public Health (MPH) program with an Epidemiology concentration offers comprehensive training in epidemiologic techniques, covering advanced statistical methods, time-series analysis, and foundational Bayesian concepts. The curriculum provides specialized knowledge in areas like cancer, HIV, cardiovascular conditions, infectious diseases, STDs, and environmental epidemiology (which overlaps with environmental health studies). Additionally, students can specialize in preventive strategies. Through collaboration with the biostatistics track, learners gain proficiency with analytical tools including SPSS, SAS, and STATA.
