The Department of World Languages and Cultures provides a French and Francophone Studies Concentration within its interdisciplinary Master of Arts program in World Languages and Applied Intercultural Studies.
This specialization aims to build competencies, professional networks, and career preparation in fields such as translation/interpretation, international education, business ventures, corporate initiatives, K-12 instruction, creative arts, advocacy, and community services. The program emphasizes hands-on learning rooted in cultural immersion and practical applications, differing from traditional language/literature-focused MA programs.
With guidance from faculty experts, students can design personalized study plans that enhance linguistic and cultural proficiency through international study or engagement with Atlanta's diverse local communities.
Similar to other MA program options, this concentration features two pathways: a practical capstone project route and a research thesis option. Both require 30 credit hours and typically span five semesters (including one summer), though working professionals often extend their timeline. Students may select or switch between tracks during their studies, as the initial coursework remains largely consistent. Detailed requirements are outlined below.
