The Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neuroscience (NCN) program administers the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (CAN) specialization.

CAN examines the neural foundations of human cognitive and emotional functions, employing psychological experiments and non-invasive imaging with healthy subjects. While some NCN faculty investigate clinical groups or translational primate research, their work primarily relates to understanding human cognition and emotion. Note that the CAN track doesn't offer clinical training or focus primarily on behavioral neuroscience. Those seeking clinical neuropsychology licensure should consider the Clinical Neuropsychology (CLN) program, while students focused on behavioral neuroscience or basic organism research should apply to the Neuroscience Institute.
