Biochemistry research focuses on analyzing and applying chemical principles to examine the makeup, structure, and interactions within living systems. Our faculty conduct studies spanning molecular biology, enzyme functions, metabolic processes, and biomolecular architecture, with specialized investigations in: redox enzyme mechanisms, particularly flavin-dependent enzymes, pathogenic bacteria's heme absorption, biomolecular characteristics through interdisciplinary methods bridging inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and molecular biology, metalloprotein transformations and protein radicals with medical implications studied via biochemical, genetic, structural, and spectroscopic techniques, as well as calcium's chemical, biological, and environmental functions through calcium-binding proteins.
