The Chemistry Department provides research initiatives across all five core chemistry disciplines, with bioinformatics integrated into each specialization:
Analytical Chemistry
Biochemistry
Biophysical Chemistry
Chemical Education
Geological Sciences
Organic/Medicinal Chemistry
Nutritional Sciences
Students can pursue interdisciplinary research combining chemistry and biology, mentored by our accomplished faculty members who include renowned scholars. Our mission is to provide exceptional graduate-level education that equips students for successful careers in academic institutions, industrial settings, and public sector roles. The graduate program primarily focuses on developing skilled scientific professionals.
The Chemistry Department grants a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry, with specialization options in biochemistry, organic/medicinal chemistry, biophysical/computational chemistry, and analytical chemistry. Collaborative Ph.D. programs are also available in geochemistry (with Geosciences) and nutritional sciences (with Nutrition).
