Employers consistently seek candidates who can provide documented evidence of their proficiency in both spoken and written language skills. The undergraduate Certificate of Language Proficiency enables students to demonstrate their linguistic capabilities through official credentials, serving as an excellent enhancement to majors like business, international affairs, healthcare administration, law enforcement, tourism management, and other fields.
This 12-credit program requires upper-division coursework (2000- and 3000-level classes), with at least 6 credits at the 3000-level. Students must earn a B grade or better on their initial attempt in each course—grades from repeated courses under the university's Repeat to Replace policy don't qualify. With advisor approval, students may replace certain courses with alternative 2000- or 3000-level Chinese language classes.
