The Department of World Languages and Cultures has three primary objectives: fostering appreciation for humanistic values via foreign language, literature, and cultural studies; teaching languages as practical communication tools; and equipping students for academic pursuits and global business careers. Situated within a vibrant urban university in an increasingly international city, the department addresses the growing demand for language skills in government, corporate, and professional sectors. We emphasize that true language mastery and deep cultural understanding create the foundation for advanced studies across our programs. Beyond core language requirements, we recommend students supplement their studies with complementary courses in additional languages, history, philosophy, arts, business, and education. Our faculty actively supports students in crafting personalized academic paths through one-on-one advising.
