The Bachelor of Arts with a Studio Art Concentration serves as the foundational degree for undergraduate studio art students at Georgia State. Students have the option to either continue in the B.A. program or apply for the more specialized B.F.A. track. To qualify for 3000-level Studio Art courses (which act as the B.F.A. admission portfolio review), students must first finish the 18-credit Foundation Area (Area F) prerequisites. Those who opt not to pursue a B.F.A. concentration can fulfill their B.A. Studio Art requirements through these initial courses (totaling nine studio art classes). The B.A. in Studio Art is designed to expose students to four distinct art disciplines, unlike the B.F.A.'s specialized focus.
The Edgewood Sculpture Forum, an official student organization, enhances the student experience by hosting visiting artist lectures and workshops, coordinating the yearly Holiday Iron Pour and silent auction, arranging off-campus student exhibitions in Atlanta, securing conference travel grants, and overseeing the student-managed CAGE SPACE gallery. These initiatives receive backing from the Art Student Union, which supports all recognized student groups within the art school.
