The Woodruff School offers a rigorous graduate program designed for students with engineering, mechanics, mathematics, or science backgrounds, culminating in a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While most coursework is flexible, all study plans must satisfy the School's standards for breadth, depth, and academic level.
This research area group (RAG) integrates cutting-edge data science, artificial intelligence (including machine learning), and informatics tools with traditional mechanical engineering approaches.
RAG members possess dual expertise in both developing innovative AI/informatics methods and applying these tools to mechanical engineering challenges. This interdisciplinary group aims to enhance our understanding of complex physical systems, striving to create smarter, more efficient machines and technologies. The RAG unites ME researchers specializing in diverse fields such as intelligent systems, data-based modeling, materials science, multiscale system design, robotics, manufacturing, and bioengineering. Through our labs and courses, we're leveraging AI and informatics to solve critical ME problems, train future engineering innovators at the human-machine interface, and pioneer solutions for a sustainable, interconnected world.
