The School of Physics' graduate program equips students with the knowledge and skills to perform and finalize exceptional, internationally acclaimed research. Additionally, through guided teaching opportunities in undergraduate labs, students from various backgrounds evolve into innovative physicists capable of thriving in academic, corporate, or governmental research environments. To earn a Ph.D. in Physics, candidates must: (a) finish required coursework, (b) engage in seminars and Special Problems projects, (c) achieve Ph.D. candidacy by passing a Comprehensive Exam (including a written Thesis Proposal and oral Proposal Exam), and (d) complete original thesis research.
Applicants for Georgia Tech's graduate programs should hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
