These two cosmic mysteries have fascinated humanity since we first developed the ability to ponder. Throughout much of human history, discussions about these topics remained speculative - rooted in imagination, culture, and philosophy rather than empirical evidence or verifiable theories. To many, queries about our beginnings or extraterrestrial life appear better suited to science fiction than scholarly research. Yet this perception is shifting. Recent decades have witnessed accelerating progress across biochemistry, physics, aerospace engineering, planetary science, astronomy, and numerous other disciplines, transforming these age-old existential questions into scientifically approachable challenges at the heart of astrobiology.
