Our database research team specializes in comprehensive data management across scientific, commercial, and healthcare domains, focusing on: Data modeling techniques, Metadata governance, Database and application architecture, Integration of diverse data sources, Distributed data systems, and Performance optimization. Current research initiatives explore: Mobile and location-aware data systems, Real-time sensor data processing, Clinical decision-support tools, Healthcare data analytics, Bioinformatics and environmental data modeling, Secure data mining techniques, Anomaly detection methodologies, Biomedical text analysis, Business process automation, Distributed database performance in cloud environments, Web-based data systems, and Large-scale data analytics.

With a distinguished legacy, our group pioneered Georgia Tech's first nationally ranked computing research program in databases during the 1990s. We're recognized for our interdisciplinary work bridging database systems with software engineering, machine learning, cybersecurity, and geospatial technologies. Our doctoral graduates hold faculty positions at prestigious institutions like Rice University, Texas A&M, UT-Dallas, Louisiana State University, and University of Illinois-Chicago. Qualification Requirements

The desirable minimum undergraduate GPA is 3.5/4.0

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test is required for candidates whose native language is not English and who have not studied in the United States for at least one year. The required minimum is 600 (paper test) or 250 (computer test), however, most candidates are well above this score.

We will also accept IELTS beginning in Spring 2020. A minimum overall score of 7.5 is required, with minimum section scores as follows: Reading 6.5, Listening 6.5, Speaking 6.5, Writing 5.5. TOEFL IBT -Minimum Score Required Internet-based: 100, with minimum section scores of 19
