Threads outline potential learning pathways within the curriculum. Students craft their degrees by combining these Threads. While not required to choose Threads early in their studies, they have the option to do so. We design Threads to offer adaptability, enabling diverse technical and creative explorations. Each Thread maintains enough coherence for students to build computing expertise even if their interests evolve. The Theory thread explores computing's mathematical core. It equips students with theoretical foundations applicable across computational fields. Initial coursework covers discrete math, algorithms, and complexity. The objective is for students to master creating and evaluating abstract models used in computer science theory, computational physics, biology, mathematics, economics, and optimization.
The Information Internetworks thread connects computing with data systems and their applications. This pathway trains students in comprehensive information management, teaching them to collect, structure, process, transmit, and display data to transform it into meaningful information.
