The Security Studies Program aims to educate emerging analysts, policymakers, and academics to approach 21st-century security challenges with analytical rigor and ethical consideration. SSP provides an interdisciplinary master's program that equips graduates for careers in defense and security, featuring a diverse curriculum spanning multiple disciplines. Students bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world policy implementation, while experienced professionals from military, intelligence, and defense sectors strengthen their practical expertise with analytical frameworks and theoretical approaches. With intentionally limited class sizes, students benefit from both faculty expertise and peer collaboration. SSP values the participation of working professionals in security-related roles and actively supports part-time enrollment. Most courses and program events are scheduled during evening hours to accommodate working students.
The Technology and Security specialization explores how technological advancements influence national security strategies and results. This track includes courses examining theoretical frameworks like nuclear deterrence and cyber conflict theory, alongside hands-on technical instruction in areas such as cybersecurity and data science. This concentration enables students to analyze security challenges through a technological lens while developing expertise in the broad spectrum of tech-related security concerns facing modern practitioners and scholars.
