An international business major equips students with the skills to operate effectively in diverse cultural and global business environments. The program develops expertise in navigating international markets and understanding the economic, political, and social factors that influence them. Students can specialize in either International Business Regional Studies or International Political Economy and Business. The Regional Studies track allows for concentrated study of a specific geographic area's political and economic systems, while the Political Economy track offers a worldwide view of commerce and mandates either overseas study or practical internship experience. Both specializations involve six courses, with one potentially overlapping with other business majors and two counting toward general education requirements when applicable. Additionally, students must demonstrate intermediate language proficiency, typically achieved through four semesters of study (or more for certain languages like Chinese and Arabic, which may require up to 24 credits).
