Available at GW's primary campus in Washington, DC, the Master of Science in Systems Engineering delivers comprehensive understanding of systems methodology for creating and overseeing complex engineering systems across their entire lifespan. Learners can select from these specialization tracks to customize their studies. Mandatory classes for each specialization are detailed in the GW Bulletin.
Operations Research and Management Science: This specialization trains students to utilize mathematical, computational, and analytical techniques for addressing managerial decision-making challenges.
Systems Engineering and Modeling: This track provides students with competencies to develop, integrate, and oversee intricate large-scale systems throughout their existence, applying fundamental systems engineering principles and analytical methodologies.

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 hours of coursework. A grade of B- or better in Math 1232 or its equivalent is prerequisite to all graduate programs offered by the Department. To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants who have earned their degrees outside of the US must hold degrees from institutions in compliance with their national standards.
You must submit a transcript, detailed marks certificate or comparable document that shows all course work, grades and proof of earned degrees from each institution youve attended. This is required for all colleges and universities where you have taken academic courses, regardless of whether or not you earned credit, the program was completed or the credit appears as transfer credit on another transcript. You should upload unofficial transcripts to your online account.
Academic IELTS: an overall band score of 7.0 with no individual score below 6.5, or
- TOEFL: 600 on paper-based or 100 on Internet-based, or
- PTE Academic: 68.
