The Master of Public Administration (MPA) serves as the premier professional qualification for careers in public administration, management, and service. While primarily tailored for public service professionals, it also benefits those in other sectors. MPA graduates find employment across all government levels, national organizations, advocacy groups, research firms, and private companies. The curriculum examines management and policy through intergovernmental and cross-sectoral lenses, emphasizing analytical skills development and ethical considerations fundamental to public administration. Specialized coursework addresses homeland security theory and practice, covering disaster response to both artificial and natural crises. This concentration equips students with expertise in security policy development and execution across federal, state, and municipal governments. The program also investigates human factors like leadership in complex systems, along with legal, technical, and institutional aspects of disaster preparedness and response. With advisor approval, students may incorporate additional relevant courses from related disciplines.
