The Master of Public Administration (MPA) serves as the premier professional qualification for careers in public administration, management, and service. While primarily tailored for public service professionals, it also benefits those in other sectors. MPA graduates find employment across government agencies, national organizations, advocacy groups, research firms, and private companies. The curriculum examines management and policy challenges through intergovernmental and cross-sectoral lenses, emphasizing analytical skills development and ethical considerations fundamental to public administration. The Environmental Policy specialization equips students to analyze ecological challenges, associated conflicts, and policy solutions. This concentration mandates 9 credit hours of specialized coursework, including one core 3-credit class, with remaining electives chosen from approved options. Students may petition the field advisor to count relevant GW courses toward their Environmental Policy focus.
