Criteria
In the history PhD program, learners engage deeply with the discipline alongside GW's distinguished faculty. The university's prime location near top-tier research institutions like the National Archives, Folger Shakespeare Library, National Security Archive, and Smithsonian museums positions GW as a premier destination for exploring diverse historical periods, from European Renaissance to Cold War studies, and from colonial research to contemporary U.S. political and social history. Participants receive comprehensive tuition coverage and a living stipend for five years of study.
