The Geological Sciences Program leverages GW's prime location near the Appalachian Mountains and within a hub of geological professionals. Students gain comprehensive understanding across geological disciplines such as mineral studies, rock formation, earth chemistry, fossil research, sediment analysis, rock layer interpretation, and practical environmental usesall with strong fieldwork focus. Our instructors include active researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey, environmental companies, the Smithsonian, and other D.C.-based organizations. Collaborating with these experts, students receive education extending past traditional lectures. Graduates are ready for diverse careers in environmental studies, earth sciences, STEM teaching, and related fields.

Applicants must submit official transcript copies representative of their entire secondary school career. We consider secondary school to be four years of academic study including the current year in progress.
