The Bachelor of Science program immerses students in the diverse methodologies, theories, and practices employed in contemporary biological sciences. Offering three specialized tracks, BS candidates can tailor their education to align with their career aspirations and academic passions.
Numerous alumni pursue advanced studies in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine. Many continue their education through biology graduate programs at GW or other universities nationwide. Additional career paths include positions in pharmaceutical or biotech industries, as well as government research roles.
Every BS concentration mandates specific elective coursework across four distinct areas:
Systems: Emphasizes genetic engineering, physiological processes, and biotechnological applications
Organisms: Encompasses disciplines such as animal biology, human anatomy, and microbial studies
Evolution, Ecology and Environment: Addresses topics ranging from wildlife biology to marine ecosystems and behavioral science
Quantitative: Establishes core competencies in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and computational biology.
