Students enrolled in any Elliott School major must fulfill the General Bachelor's Program Requirements. Those pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs (BAIA) must additionally complete all three BAIA major requirements listed below. A key component includes achieving third-year competency in a modern foreign language, verified either through testing or academic coursework. This program offers an in-depth examination of continental African nations through comparative and international perspectives. The curriculum explores contemporary African history, economic systems, political structures, and governance across the region. It addresses critical security challenges, developmental concerns, and Africa's foreign relations with nations in North America, Europe, and Asia.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion, students specializing in this area will possess the skills to critically evaluate and interpret domestic and global affairs involving African states. They will develop the capacity to design policy solutions for regional challenges and critically analyze the impact of implemented strategies.
