The curriculum covers essential areas like mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, paleontology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, and practical environmental applications, with a strong focus on hands-on fieldwork. Faculty members, including active researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey, environmental organizations, the Smithsonian Institution, and other DC-based agencies, bring real-world expertise to the classroom. By collaborating with these experienced professionals, students gain practical knowledge that extends beyond traditional academics.
