The Earth's climate is undergoing swift transformations, presenting significant obstacles for humanity. There's rising demand for climate specialists possessing deep technical expertise to handle cutting-edge Earth System models and intricate data flows. For those with foundations in physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or Earth sciences, Mason's Climate Science MS program can prepare you to fill this critical role.
Both government and industry sectors urgently require skilled professionals capable of processing and making sense of expanding climate datasets. A new sector focused on climate data services has emerged. Public institutions particularly need qualified individuals to guide climate change mitigation strategies. Though the MS program is recently established, alumni from the Climate Dynamics PhD program have secured positions at prestigious institutions including NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Cal Tech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NOAA's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Lab at Princeton, and NCAR. Graduates of the Climate Science MS program can expect opportunities at national labs, government bodies, NGOs, corporations, and PhD programs.
