The Earth Systems and Geoinformation Sciences (ESGS) PhD program combines multiple scientific fields including geosystems, geography, earth sciences, and geoinformatics.

Participants gain comprehensive education in fundamental geosciences and geography, along with technical instruction in computational methods and Geoinformation sciences. For certain students, the ESGS doctoral program serves as a stepping stone to academia, while others use it to progress in government or corporate careers. Qualification Requirements

This program is intended for graduates who hold a MS or MA degree in atmospheric science, climatology, meteorology, Earth science, geology, environmental science, remote sensing, hydrology, oceanography, geography, or a related field. Highly-qualified students with a BS or BA in applicable fields are also encouraged to apply. Knowledge of mathematics through calculus is preferred.

An earned baccalaureate from an institution of higher education accredited by a Mason-recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency, or international equivalent, verified from official transcripts.
A minimum 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale in baccalaureate study.
IELTS - 7.0 and 6.5 each subsection
TOEFL - 88 and 20 each subsection
