The Spanish language and its speakers play a crucial role in both our local and worldwide communities. As a student of Spanish at Mason, you'll explore the language within these cultural contexts. You'll develop strong skills in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish while gaining knowledge about Latin American, Latino, and Spanish linguistic traditions, literature, history, and cultural practices.
You'll join a vibrant local Spanish-speaking community at the university and throughout Northern Virginia. Numerous chances exist to connect with Spanish speakers through coursework, student groups, and community engagement. The region offers access to diverse Spanish-language arts programs, such as Arlington County's Teatro de la Luna and Washington D.C.'s Teatro Gala.
