Our faculty brings together diverse expertise spanning digital photography, traditional black-and-white film techniques, experimental darkroom processes, studio lighting, large format work, documentary photography, as well as photographic history and theory. As nationally recognized practicing artists, we embrace photography's evolving significance in modern art.
The department boasts exceptional facilities including two digital labs with large-format film scanners and printers, plus an expansive darkroom with 18 black-and-white enlargers. Students also benefit from a 1,000 sq ft professional lighting studio, dedicated print mounting areas, a specialized alternative processes darkroom, and a 30-color print processor - all designed to support the development of sophisticated professional portfolios.
We foster an educational approach that pushes students to engage with photography's conceptual, aesthetic, and social dimensions while equally developing their technical mastery. Our goal is to equip emerging artists and professionals with both the visual literacy and technical skills to effectively communicate contemporary ideas through their photographic practice.
