Mason's anthropology program caters to students who share your passions. Alongside global cultural studies, our archaeology and biological anthropology tracks provide hands-on research opportunities with faculty, including fieldwork in bioarchaeology, archaeology, and museum studies. You'll have access to Washington DC's exceptional cultural anthropology resources, including Smithsonian institutions. Our cultural anthropology courses link anthropological study to modern societal issues like healthcare, urban development, military influences, and global politics. Past students have completed internships at museums, non-profits, and government agencies such as the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian and the US Department of Education.
Anthropology students cultivate keen observational skills, analytical thinking, cultural sensitivity, strong research and writing abilities, and cultural interpretation expertise – all highly valuable in today's interconnected world.
Our graduates pursue diverse careers in healthcare, public policy, forensic science, international relations, conservation, museum work, academic research, and development. Many alumni advance to leadership roles, teaching positions, or careers across scientific disciplines.
