To cultivate middle and high school students' mathematical skills and enthusiasm, educators require more than just mathematical expertise. This program enhances teacher candidates' grasp of adolescent learning processes, educational principles, and effective math instruction techniques.
During the first year's fall and spring terms, participants spend three full days weekly in classrooms: observing for three weeks, followed by ten weeks of student teaching in the same setting.

In the second year's fall and spring semesters, the commitment increases to five full days weekly: two weeks of observation, then twelve weeks of student teaching in the same classroom.

Successful completion results in a Master of Science in Teaching degree and qualifies graduates for initial New York State teaching certification.

Candidates fulfilling all program requirements, completing the curriculum, and demonstrating competency in field experiences earn Fordham University's recommendation for New York state initial certification in their teaching specialization.
